Vorot Rajar Deul – Jessore

Vorot Rajar Deul, Vorot Vayna, Jessore

Vorot Vayna is an archaeological site that is still less known to us. In fact we even don’t know much about this place. After discovering the site and also from the excavation, several valuable things were collected from here. By observing those things, experts are guessing this was built by the King Vorot which was nearly around 2000 years from now. That time a lot of Buddhist people lived around this place. Nowadays local people know this place as Vorot Rajar Deul (which means the temple of King Vorot). I don’t know much about this place and didn’t find any in-depth information. Check the photo gallery of Jessore for more pictures.

Vorot Vayna is small but a valuable archaeological site that is located nearly beside the Buri Bhodra River which is nowadays suffering from lack of flow and care. But it was mighty once upon a time like many other rivers from Bangladesh. The name of the village where this place is situated is named Gourighona. It was around the mid day when we reached Vorot Vayna.

How to go

Though this place is under the administration of Keshobpur of Jessore, it is near the Chuknogor of Khulna district. You can come here either from Jessore, Khulna or Satkhira. Chuknogor falls somewhere at the middle point of these three districts. From Chuknogor bazaar I hired a motorbike for the round trip that did cost us 170 Taka. From the bazaar it was around a 20-25 minutes of motorbike ride. The GPS Coordinate of the Vorot vayna is somewhere near to this (22°50’58.8″N, 89°20’55.2″E). Ask the motorbike driver about Vorot Rajar Deul. They know about this place and will be able to take you there. If you are using your private car, ask anyone from Chuknogor bazar for direction.

Where to eat

Chuknogor bazaar has a famous restaurant named Abbas Hotel. You can have your lunch there with mutton curry that is cooked with a local spice named Choi. After our visit to Vorot Vayna we had our lunch there. It was a nice experience to have a traditional curry from there.

Where to stay

There are few hotels available in Jessore and Khulna. But most of them are not available to book from online. If you want a comfortable hotel then I’d suggest you to stay in Khulna as they have quite a few international quality hotels over there. You can use the below search box to see hotels from Khulna.
