Nilgiri means the mountain of blues (or in blues). This is located around 47 kilometers from Bandarban town. Day by day this place became one of the most lucrative tourist spots in Bandarban. You can observe the scenic beauty of the mountains where the clouds are playing with the waves of the wind. The best moment in Nilgiri is during the morning. Don’t forget to pack your camera when you are visiting this place.
In morning time the clouds gathered underneath the hills. And from the top of the hill it looks like an ocean of cloud. The cloud diminishes with the progression of day. If you are interested you can stay in Nilgiri Resort of Nilgiri mountain. This resort is managed by the Bangladesh Army. You have to book the rooms plenty of time ahead as it has a very high demand. Also if you have a link with the Army officials it would be easier to book for you.
But the hotels of the Bandarban town are really cheap. You could stay there and hire a traditional vehicle Chander gari to visit Nilgiri (as a day trip). It takes around 1-2 hours to reach to Nilgiri. The journey through the hills are really nice. If you can make it during rainy season or autumn then you’d find the whole mountain is very green. It feel really adventurous when the vehicle passes through the serpentine road.
You don’t need to take any extra permission to visit the place, but if you have any foreigners with you, or if you are a foreigner that case you have to take permission from the DC of Bandarban. If you are starting your journey from Dhaka, that case you can use the S Alam or Unique bus services. So far I remember, it was around 350 Taka per person (back in 2009). The buses are medium quality, and runs very fast during night.
There is a restaurant in Nilgiri. You can have your lunch there after your adventurous day. If you wish you can carry your own lunch as well.

nice post. i love to go there from dhaKa by plane. my plan is dhaka to chittagong by plane and then take bus to bandorbon. now i am not sure where should i contact to book a room for 4 persons. i want to stay in nilgiri motel or nilgiri resort.
