Charmuguria is located approximately 6 kilometers from the Madaripur town. This place is a living ground for a bunch of free monkeys. These monkeys can move freely around without any fear. They collect the food from here and there, and sometimes people also feed them. Local people do not do any harm to the monkeys. They put a net around the window so that the monkeys couldn’t enter inside the house.
There are very few places in Bangladesh where you could see monkeys moving freely. That’s why I was interested to visit this. I have found an enthusiastic rickshaw puller from the Madaripur town and he was interested to show all the places from the town. I asked him about the monkeys from Charmuguria, and he said he could take me to that place.
We reached Charmuguria by 12:00pm and it was a bit warm on that day. It was not the exact time for the monkeys to come out from the cool shade. I bought a few dry foods for the monkeys and a few biscuits (suggested by my rickshaw puller).
We visited several possible locations for the monkeys, but I think the monkeys promised not to show up on that day. I was almost hopeless and about to return back to town with an empty hand. But a local student suggested that there were several monkeys moving near their college.
Me and my rickshaw puller headed for the place, and both of us were happy to see plenty of monkeys. Those monkeys were fearless. They were not afraid of human beings. I feed the monkeys with joy. It was a nice and wonderful time around Charmuguria. Before returning I explored the river Kumar for a while. Due to the rainy season the river was full with water.
