Jagannath temple – Comilla

Jagannath temple, Comilla

Jagannath temple is probably the oldest Temple from Comilla district. It was built by the King of Tripura named Moharaja Rada Kishor Manikuo Bahadur during the 16th century. This temple worships the gods Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra. Statues of those gods were initially placed at the temple of Tripura, but later those were shifted here. This temple is also known as Jagannath Mandir.

Wikipedia mentioned this as Saptratna Mondir whereas the travel book writer Mustafiz Mamun has introduced this as Sotero Rotno Mondir. I am not sure which one is correct but the temple seems unique to me considering the other temples from Bangladesh.

It was the last day of our three day’s tour. In fact we have traveled most of the list from our bucket for the previous two days. We had only a few for today and this Jagannath temple was the last place that we visited for this expedition.
