Hajachhora waterfall from Khagrachhari

Hajachhora waterfall, khagrachhori

The name of the waterfall is Haja chhora (also Haja chhora). This is located at slightly eastern side from the the Dighinala town of Khagrachhari district (although it actually located into the Rangamati district). Local people are familiar with this waterfall by the name “10 number waterfall”. This waterfall does not produce too much water (regardless the season).  Even it had a heavy rain earlier at the day, but still tinny amount of flow. Observing the width and depth of the stream, it is easily deducible that the waterfall never had a great amount of water in any seasons. But still this is a nice place to visit for its convenient location, a vast number of tourists use to enjoy their weekends here.

I visited the waterfall twice. First time was  during July. That time this waterfall didn’t have any water. It was 6:10pm in the evening when we reached Dighinala town. We Hired a bike for 200 Taka (round trip) to visit the waterfall. It took use only 30 minutes to reach there. Then after walking around 5-10 minutes through a narrow and shallow stream (locally known as Jhiri), we reached beneath the waterfall. It was totally dark that time.

So later I visited the waterfall again in September and found the waterfall was full with water. It was on the way to the Sajek Valley, and on our way we visited the waterfall. This time the waterfall had plenty of water. It was not the rainy season, but it was amazingly full. I am not sure how this waterfall was producing that much water. But anyway, we had fun beneath the waterfall for more than an hour.

How to go

If you are visiting Dighinala town, and have time in hand, you can easily visit this Hajachhora waterfall. I’d recommend you to use a CNG driven auto rickshaw, but you have a motor bike as another option. Bike would cost you 200 Taka and a CNG driven auto rickshaw would cost 300 Taka for a round trip (as of 2014). It would be around 30 minutes to reach the waterfall, and then you have to walk another 5 minutes to reach the bottom of the  waterfall. Also, the waterfall is on the way to Sajek Valley. You can visit this waterfall during your Sajek trip. GPS coordinate (23°16’12.38″N, 92° 7’51.86″E).
