The sixth Bangladesh-China friendship bridge over the river Dhaleswari that connects Narayanganj and Munshiganj district is another attractive place to visit in Munshiganj. This bridge is located in Muktarpur. This bridge was opened for public at 18th February of 2008, and it was opened by the Chief Advisor of Bangladesh Government, Mr. Fakhruddin Ahmed. Before this bridge, people of that particular area used to cross the river with trawler boats, and the vehicles with Feri.

In current days ferry transportation is no longer required, but still few people use to cross the river using boat. The bridge is not allowed to take any rickshaw, possibly that's why I think people are still using the boats (otherwise they had to use bus or walk). I walked from the base of the bridge, and moved to the middle of the bridge, and I think it took around 15 minutes. It was really hot that time but at the middle of the bridge there were plenty fresh airs from the river. That was enough to ease the hot from the sun.

Muktarpur bridge is a nice place to enjoy your time. This place would make you busy, cause in every moment different types of water vehicles are passing under the bridge. Some are bigger in size and some are smaller. Some boats are carrying goods, like sand, woods, etc. Some are trawler that carrying people to their destination. You'd find that the time is flying pretty quickly. Also from the middle of the bridge you could enjoy the beauty of the river Dhaleswari. The water of the river was clean that time due to upcoming rainy season. I saw lot of people were having baths at the bank of the river.

There is a stair at the bridge where the river bank started. If you want you can get down from the bridge using the stairs. There are several shopkeepers who are selling Chatpati (a spicy street food) as during the afternoon lot of people come to visit this Muktarpur bridge. You can have a walk beside the river. The walking path is clean and nice for walking.

It was during the football world cup time and fans were hanging the flags of different international teams. It was really disappointing to see foreign flags flying in Bangladesh. Anyway, they sky started to become darker and the rain was imminent. I had to leave the bridge quickly and spent my time during heavy rain in a normal quality hotel room.
